Sassy, Tan and Sweet

Today was a beautiful day.  I took my daughter to a birthday party and then I went to meet an old friend for a late lunch. We went to a cosy little bar that serves food. We devoured some tasty finger foods and knocked back some cocktails……..’Dee’s triple rum cocktails’ to be exact.  It was good to catch up with my home girl. So for today’s look I went for a sassy but casual look. I hope you like it. I’m working on a new Ankara Bar-bie creation so stay tuned. Hope your enjoying the weekend. Thanks for reading xxx

High fashion food for thought

I came across these truly inspirational and beautiful images and felt the need to share them with you all. African textiles are truly versatile, vibrant, unique and ecliptic. Gosh!

Tangerine ice cream

Last night I went out with the girls to a rave……or should I say a ‘meat market’. Totally not my type of thing. However it was good to spend time with the girly whirlies. I have two looks to show you in this blog entry. The first look is another creation made and styled by Ankara Bar-bie  (moi). The next is an example of a look that I styled for my co-d Duchess BK.

Lady in navy

Today I went shopping for new materials, as I’m working on some new creations.  It was a beautiful sunny day today so I decided to do a cute casual look.  None of the items I’m wearing have been made by me; however I thought I would still share it with you all. Although, I am a dedicated fan of African fashion and materials, and try to wear as much of it as possible. I am still a confessed sucker/addict of western contemporary fashion as well. Especially when it’s affordable.  Well this was today’s outfit.

                                                                       Vest: Primark
                                                                   Trousers: Primark
                                                                       Belt: Primark
                                                                     Pumps: Primark
                                                        Bag: United colours of Benetton

Oh by the way, the shopping trip was extremely productive. I bought some lovely materials, Woodin, Ankara and Raw silk. So I will be busy creating some new Ankara Bar-bie creations. See you soon folks. Thanks for reading  x

Tribute to turquoise

Yesterday (Sunday) my co-d and I went to a traditional Nigerian 70th birthday party. What a shin-dig! All the elders were really "shaking a leg" on the dance floor to the live band. A great atmosphere and good food. Anyway for this event I wanted to go in an outfit that suggested traditional but with a modern classic twist. So I made this dress and teamed it with some accessories I already had.
